Thank you for your interest in vinecutting. We have a huge number of responses to The New York Times article. You can see it online at http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/02/nyregion/02vines.html (NYTimes registration is free and fairly easy).
We will answer each of your e-mails individually. In the meantime, here are some quick answers.
Training starts in November. The schedule is on our web site www.vinecutter.com. We will update the site and provide maps and directions. With your permission we will also e-mail you an update.
We would love to see you at the training sessions! This is very much a grass roots effort. We are Westchester County Parks Department volunteers and operate under their authority and supervision.
We are The Bronx River Conservancy, a membership organization formed in 1997 that has quietly done a great deal to protect and improve The Bronx River Parkway Reservation "The Central Park of Westchester County."
Yes, we encourage - need - donations.

Our board of directors (county movers and shakers) accomplishes a great deal at the county and regional level. Current major projects include water quality (WAC7), encroachment and vinecutting. We have dozens of smaller projects would love to hear your issues and concerns. We expect to have a Web site soon.
The vine on our Web site (we asked for help identifying it), is in fact Wisteria. We don't cut this vine because it is a less virulent variety and is fairly unusual around here.
Yes, we will update and improve our little Vinecutter web page (send those donations).
We don't use herbicides. They are prohibited in the reservation, but we will pass on information about their use from time to time.
